Our approach
Our investment strategy
Our mission is to find businesses or gaps in the market, research and analyze opportunities, invest in and build strong sustainable businesses. We invest in healthcare, education and healthcare related opportunities and companies globally; through partnership, strong sector knowledge, capital funding and experience to allow companies and their management teams to achieve their full potential.
Size
We invest in Greenfield projects and established companies. Our investments can be as little as an initial seed and pre-seed outlay of USD$ 1,000,000 to established mid-cap businesses valued between USD$ 50 – 500 million.
Key characteristics of projects and businesses we support
- Opportunities for significant growth primarily stemming from a novel or unique offering, structural transformation, strategic repositioning and/or international expansion.
- Ability to partner with management teams where August can support as majority stakeholders.

The global healthcare market is constantly evolving, however, over the past few decades we have seen significant changes from increased demand globally from factors such as ageing populations and increased emerging market wealth but also the rapidity of technological advances in medicine and healthcare.

We first ensure that there exists an articulated vision and strategy to achieve that vision, we also bring business rigor and accountability, capital, international healthcare sector and operational expertise, and a strong global network to help businesses and the teams that manage them manifest their potential.
Driving sustainable growth
Expertise
We, together with our network of advisors and sub-specialty experts, are able to identify, assess, plan, and manage opportunities and businesses to realize the creation of sustainable value growth. At the end of the day, our businesses benefit not only ourselves and our partners but the communities in which they operate.
A shared vision and strategy
It is vital that before we make an investment, our team and that of the business we are contemplating share a vision and a plan on how to realize that shared vision.
People
August Medical spends a considerable amount of effort and resources to cultivate the right teams and our global network of experts to ensure our businesses achieve sustainable growth.
Sustainability
August Medical is not interested in developing businesses that do not at a minimum have the promise for sustainable growth. Sustainability and growth are fundamental to the businesses in which we chose to invest. The ability to be transformative, to grow, expand into new markets and raise the level of healthcare in a community is what we strive for.
Perspective
At August Medical, our outlook is long-term. In fact, we do not identify an exit date within our investment strategy. Our focus is to develop and support companies that are sustainable, that grow and that benefit the populations they serve.
Culture
The unique culture within August Medical is perhaps the thing that we are proudest of and which we strive to protect. Our team is composed of talented, hardworking people that share a vision. That vision is simply to always do good. That is often easier said than done but within August Medical it is part of who we are, and this simple mantra affects not only the environment within August Medical but it is palpable to those we deal with but are external to our organization. It drives our commitment to properly make both large and small decisions.
